Public Interest Disclosures

How can OPSSC assist?

OPSSC helps individuals report wrongdoing within the State Government, local government and public universities.

If you have seen, heard or know of something which you believe is unlawful or improper, this could be public interest information under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 (PID Act).

Reporting wrongdoing or ‘whistleblowing’ is a serious matter. In many cases it takes courage for people to come forward. In exchange for that courage, the PID Act provides you with protection against reprisals.

Before making a disclosure, view information on making a disclosure and speak to your PID officer for further advice. If you don't know the name of your PID officer view the PID Officer contact list (Excel, 115Kb) or contact the Assist Line on 1800 676 607.

OPSSC can also help public authorities with the practicalities of complying with the PID Act.

OPSSC offers a full range of consultancy services, education, awareness raising packages, training for PID officers together with online learning. In this way we can support individual agencies to raise awareness about public interest disclosures.
